Holding Together is a meditation on the delicate tension between preservation and decay. The rust and salt printed paper reveals traces of memory, scars and damage held together by a fragile network of stitched thread. This work is an act of resilience and endurance and honours our vulnerability as beings in the world. The work explores our human impulse to mend, repair and endure. Each thread is a gesture of care, each mark a record of time passing. In the act of making, there is grief, but also grace and a way of remaining open in a world that frays.
This piece is both an action and an artifact: a meditation on what it means to hold together, when things are falling apart.
