Komorebi is a Japanese word that translates as, ‘sunlight leaking through trees’ – an evocation of the wonder and mystery of overhead leafy branches and dancing shadows on the ground. It carries feelings of contemplation or nostalgia, and an awareness of the transience of light, beauty and life.
With my work I seek to convey an intimate experience of the bush through layered monoprints that focus on emotional resonance, memory and imagination by oscillating between surface mark making and spatial illusion.
