Annette Peterson – Through the Trees
|Through the Trees is an exploration in painting, everyday life and the digital. My fascination with embodying the landscape with the phenomena of driving has recently steered me toward investigating the moving image.
Through the Trees emulates a ‘live’ option on an Apple iOS smartphone from a passenger’s perspective. The ‘live’ option allows for a short burst of film of 1.5 seconds before and after a picture is taken. Influenced by the recent Loving Vincent Movie (2017), directed by Dorota Kobiela and Hugh Welchman, Through the Trees, was made by replacing each film still with 70 oil on wood panels to make the stop-motion film.
