| Hunter Gatherer is a mixed media piece. I started by gluing strips of fabric onto my canvas to achieve a textured, uneven surface. Then working into this with charcoal, paper collage, ink, acrylic and oil paint and oil stick.
This painting is my interpretation of what I imagined the nomadic life of hunter gatherers could look like. They move from place to place and stay as long as they are sustained there. Then packing up their simple structures they are off to somewhere new. As they go they leave their marks in the sand, on the walls of caves and in the few items left behind. |
