| I’m really enjoying playing around with painting still-life at the moment. I spent some time photographing a plant — playing around with cropping the image and applying filters. Having a really nice image was an important starting point. I then let this painting evolve from the photo and a very quick pastel sketch. The sketch is almost abstract and was the main inspiration for the painting.
My focus was more on the creative process than recreating an image. Using an impasto medium with the acrylic paint created texture and less predictable results. The final artwork really has a life of its own. |
