Laszlo Lukacs – Millions Generation 4

This work is from the Millions series Generation Four. The concept of these images is based on random patterns created from small figurative elements, (in this case the human form) which when looked at long enough coalesce into abstract forms. This is made possible that each figure contains the barest minimum of information which doesn’t anchor the viewer’s attention.

The human brain is hard-wired to seek resolution from these abstract forms by making visual interpretations that are unintended. These interpretations are based specifically on forms that are ‘alive’. Because of the very nature of how the human brain responds to this kind of imagery, the surface of the painting is in constant flux, and as such it’s a great exercise for the plasticity of the human brain.
