Linda Fardoe – Mindscape
|In 2019 I had the privilege of participating as an Artist in Residence at Donnelly River Village in South Western Australia. The experience of walking through damp forests and working from life in the quietness of this magical world will stay with me forever.
On one occasion I wandered with confidence and delight as birds sang and the sun shone. However, my mood changed to fear and trepidation upon losing my way. The sun disappeared and I was alone in the forest with no phone or notion of where I was, provoking panic and thoughts of the dark stories by the Brothers Grimm.
I began this work pre COVID. The virus connotations, plus personal issues darkened the mood as the work progressed. The landscape became a metaphor for my mind. Mindscape, travelling left to right, is my emotional journey through changing forest zones and shifting moods.
