Olaf Rosentreter – Jettison of a Dream
|I only create the story line, how the viewer imagines the story behind it, is up to the individual.
Jettison of a Dream 2019, is part of a though line and a collection of paintings I did between 2017 and 2020. I wanted to depict the hard work, the blood and guts, the disappointment many ballet dancer go thru. Many give up their dream, due to many reasons. I tried to catch the emotions, I can only imagining.
I been painting since very early childhood and been fascinated by symbolism as frequently used in many pre-Raphaelite paintings.
In this painting I used the season autumn (autumn leaves mark the end of passage of time), colours, silver and copper leaf and a whirlwind catching a red ribbon to enhance the painting, of giving up ones dream.
