Unweaving The Rainbow by Adam Hisham Ismail
Size: 740 x 1100 x 40
Gallery: Stala Contemporary
This work is a continued exploration into the landscapes of the unconscious using sculptural installation photography. This tableau is comprised of made, moulded, painted and found objects arranged around the ‘Red Flag’ motif and speaks about caution while traversing unknown terrain.
Traditionally used to signal danger, here they can be found littered through vivid, miniaturised flower beds supporting unknowable figures, god-like and beleaguered. The show was conceived through a visceral response to the artist’s recent personal experiences. There is an undeniably ominous undertone to the presented narratives, though the atmosphere of levity in which they appear to coalesce is an almost divine counterpoint.
