Western Ground Parrot #8 (Kyloring) by Michelle Dujmovic
Size: 470 x 540 x 30
I am fascinated by the natural world, particularly birds which I am always drawn to paint.
The Western Ground Parrot, also known as Kyloring by Noongar people, is a rare Western Australian bird species with less than 150 left. This bird is critically endangered with loss of habitat, bush fires and feral predation being the major threats to their survival. I was drawn to paint this species after studying one on display at WA museum. I hope by painting this bird I can raise awareness of their plight and the work which is being done for their survival.
